Killing for Fun and Profit

Thousands of animals are killed each day, not for food, but for fun and luxury. Fun includes barbaric spectacles like bear baiting and bull fights, and luxury is when live animals are beaten half to death and their skin ripped off them while they are still conscious, just to make fur coats and fur trimmed hats. Apart from this, stabbing, poisoning, maiming of animals in the name of laboratory experiments and military training are a commonplace even when mechanical alternatives are available.

Even if you do not care for animals, surely, you do care for your children. Barbaric acts like this are not very different from what serial killers do or when innocent people are blasted to bits with explosives in the name of religion or freedom. The viciousness and sadism that goes into animal abuse is not likely to stop with just animals. All of society is affected by individuals without scruple, without mercy, without any recognizable human quality.

One person can make a difference. Please don’t pass over this page and be despaired or indifferent. Your voice can lend support to a thousand others and together, much can be achieved. Please go through the websites listed below and see for yourself exactly how much.

It is heartbreaking to see how a dog wags his tail even when he is chained to an iron grill, unsuspecting of what is about to become of him.

•  Buying fur or fur trim supports an industry that kills millions of domestic dogs and cats each year—both on purpose and accidentally in traps.
• Although most dog and cat victims of the fur trade are raised and killed in China and other parts of Asia, their fur is exported for sale worldwide.
• The United States already bans the sale of dog and cat fur (prompted by an HSUS investigation), but recent investigations found that dog fur is still slipping into the country on unlabeled and falsely advertised jackets.
• In the United States, traps set for wild animals like foxes and bobcats maim or kill countless dogs and cats each year.
